New Delhi, 14 September (H.S.): Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday dedicated a newly constructed public toilet complex (Jan Suvidha Parisar) at Labour Chowk in Singalpur village of Shalimar Bagh to the public. Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, district president Ajay Khattana, Municipal Councillors Amit Nagpal and Anita Jain were also present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister said the modern public toilet complex has been equipped with contemporary facilities, with special attention given to the needs of persons with disabilities. A caretaker will also be deployed to ensure their convenience.

Rekha Gupta said the Delhi government is continuously working to provide clean, accessible and modern public amenities to residents.

Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said the Chief Minister had dedicated the modern public toilet complex to the people and that it was the first Jan Suvidha Parisar to be completed and opened to the public under the target of constructing 1,000 modern public toilet complexes.

He said Delhi Tourism has been tasked with constructing 1,000 toilet complexes on roads and in markets across Delhi to address the shortage of clean and modern public sanitation facilities.

Each complex will have three separate units for men, women and persons with disabilities, along with sanitary napkin facilities for women. The government will directly oversee their maintenance, with caretakers available round the clock, one supervisor for every 20 complexes and the use of modern cleaning equipment.

The facilities will be completely free of charge for residents of Delhi as well as visitors to the national capital.
