Silchar (Assam), 14 September (HS): Cachar Police seized 2.2 kg (₹13 Crore valued) of suspected heroin and arrested one person during an anti-narcotics operation in the Ramnagar Bypass area of Silchar, police said on Monday.

Acting on specific source input, a police team conducted an operation near Sangai Hotel under Silchar Police Station and intercepted a truck bearing registration number AS-01-NC-8893. During a search of the vehicle, personnel recovered 150 soap cases containing suspected heroin, concealed inside a specially made secret chamber of the truck.

The arrested person has been identified as Abdul Rahim Laskar, a resident of French Nagar in Lailapur under Dholai Police Station in Cachar district.

According to police, the truck was coming from Mizoram's Champhai district. Legal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the seizure, while further investigation is underway to establish the forward and backward linkages of the suspected drug trafficking network.-----------
