Jorhat (Assam), 14 September (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday began the second day of the district commissioners’ conference being held in Jorhat for the first time. The conference is focused on reviewing development activities, administrative matters and key issues concerning different districts of the state.

The first day of the conference continued for several hours on Sunday, with the Chief Minister holding discussions with district commissioners on a range of important matters related to governance and development. The meeting, which began at 2 pm, continued until midnight.

In a social media post on Monday, Sarma said that after participating in an important programme of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi at 5.30 pm on Sunday, he began his onward journey and reached Jorhat, where the first day of the conference concluded at around 11.30 pm.

“Today is the second day of the District Commissioners’ Conference,” Sarma said, adding that discussions on various important issues would continue throughout the day.

He said the conference is aimed at strengthening public service and working towards building a stronger, more developed and self-reliant Assam. The Chief Minister also said that details of the important issues discussed during the conference would be shared with the people after its conclusion.------------
