Bhubaneswar, 13 September (H.S.): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall and thunderstorm activity across several parts of Odisha and issued a yellow warning for different districts through September 17.

For Sunday, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds of 30–40 kmph at one or two places in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh districts.

On Monday, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput and Gajapati districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are also likely in Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.

On September 15, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Gajapati districts.

The heavy rainfall warning will continue on September 16 for Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Gajapati districts.

For September 17, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall in Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput and Gajapati districts.

The weather office has advised people in the warned areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and periods of heavy rainfall.
