Kamrup (Assam), 13 September (HS): A youth allegedly killed his girlfriend at a guest house in Rangia area of Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district, following which police arrested him in connection with the incident.

The accused has been identified as Abhijit Kindu, while the deceased woman was identified as Mala Ni, a resident of Sonitpur district. According to the preliminary information, the incident took place at a guest hotel near Rangia railway station.

Police said the accused allegedly attacked and killed the woman and subsequently attempted to take his own life. He was, however, apprehended by the police after the incident.

The body of the deceased was recovered and sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the killing. Further details, including the motive behind the alleged crime, are awaited.----------
