Guwahati, 13 September (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday expressed deep grief over the demise of former Assam minister and his longtime friend and colleague Siddique Ahmed.
In a social media post, Sarma recalled his association with Ahmed and said their friendship had remained above political differences. He described Ahmed as a people-oriented legislator who consistently prioritised public welfare and as a responsible minister who discharged his responsibilities with dedication and maturity.
The Chief Minister said Ahmed was, above all, an exceptional human being who valued relationships and remained compassionate towards others. Recalling the difficult phases of their lives when they stood by each other, Sarma said his death had caused him profound personal pain.
Sarma said Ahmed’s demise had created a deep void in the social life of Sribhumi as well as in Assam’s administrative sphere. He conveyed his condolences to Ahmed’s wife Anima and the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul.----------
