Changwon, September 12 (H.S.): India’s Bhakti Sharma won the bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol SH1 final at the WSPS World Championships after securing a score of 213.1 points. Iran’s Nasrin Shahi Samakhoun finished ahead of Bhakti to claim the silver medal, while her compatriot Faezeh Ahmadi won the gold with a score of 238.3 points.

Another Indian shooter, Srishti Arora, also featured in the final and finished fifth.

Earlier, Bhakti had placed sixth in the qualification round, one position behind Srishti.

However, Bhakti set a new junior world record in the qualification round with a score of 565 points. Srishti recorded 566 points in qualification.

India’s Sumedha Pathak narrowly missed out on a place in the top eight by just one point. Meanwhile, 2024 Paralympic bronze medallist Rubina Francis finished 18th with a score of 554 points.

India also secured the silver medal in the team event. The combined total of 1,690 points from the three best scores recorded by Srishti, Bhakti and Sumedha earned India the silver. Iran won the gold medal with a new record score of 1,707 points, while China took the bronze.
