Shillong, 12 September (HS): Unidentified miscreants hurled two petrol bombs at Laban Police Station in Shillong during the pre-dawn hours of Saturday, triggering a security alert in the area. The incident took place at around 2:30 am, when two individuals allegedly arrived on a scooter and threw the explosive devices over the boundary wall into the police station compound.

According to Meghalaya Police, one of the petrol bombs struck a parked police Gypsy vehicle, causing partial damage. The second device landed near two police personnel who were on duty at the time. The two officers managed to move to safety and escaped without injuries.

Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that a formal case has been registered in connection with the incident. Police teams are examining CCTV footage and other technical evidence to identify the suspects. A manhunt has also been launched to trace and apprehend those involved.

The incident has raised security concerns in Shillong and the wider Khasi Hills region. Authorities have stepped up patrolling and vehicle checks as part of the security response.--------
