
Imphal, 12 September (HS): Security forces and police arrested four suspected armed cadres in separate operations in Manipur on Friday and recovered a large cache of firearms, ammunition and tactical equipment, officials said.
In the first operation, a combined team of Churachandpur District Police and 5 Assam Rifles conducted an operation in the general area of Munpi Village under Henglep Sub-Division in Churachandpur district. Three armed cadres were arrested. They were identified as Khual (35), son of Songneilal of Munpi Village; Money Chiru (30), son of Jonathan Chiru of Nungrai Village in Bishnupur district; and Thanglalmuan (25), son of Kamneilun of Nghathal Village in Churachandpur district.
The security forces recovered one 7.62 mm HKG 3 assault rifle, one 5.56 mm A1 assault rifle, one 5.56 mm M22 assault rifle and two 7.62 mm AK-47 rifles. Seven magazines, 298 rounds of ammunition of different calibres and five tactical pouches were also recovered.
In a separate operation, based on reliable information received from SAFE/Thoubal (Special Action Force for Extortion), a combined team of Thoubal District Police and 46 Assam Rifles arrested an active UNLF (K) cadre from Lamding Khumanthem Leikai under Thoubal Police Station in Thoubal district.
The arrested cadre was identified as Private Khundongbam Motilal Singh alias Khongul (26), son of Kh. Ingo Singh of Heirok Part-III, Lam Mari Phangba Maning. A two-wheeler was also recovered during the operation. Further investigation is underway.------------
