
Tezpur (Assam), 12 September (HS): Five youths were killed in a tragic road accident near Balipara in Assam’s Sonitpur district after a high-speed truck collided head-on with an Eeco vehicle on National Highway 15. The accident took place at a location known as Meat Supply at Tubukijhar.
The deceased have been identified as Sanjay Mesh, Latumoni (Papu) Bora, Nayan Swargiary, Pranjal Bania and Harbind (Gobinda) Hazarika. All five victims were reportedly residents of Ohoni Pathar Batabari in the area.
According to preliminary information, the truck was travelling from the opposite direction when it rammed into the Eeco at high speed. The impact caused the Eeco to veer off the road and fall into a deep ditch, resulting in the deaths of all five occupants.
Police and other emergency personnel reached the spot and initiated rescue and investigation procedures. Preliminary reports also indicated that several liquor bottles were recovered from the vehicle following the accident.
