Imphal, 11 September (HS): Security forces arrested two active cadres of banned insurgent outfits in separate operations in Manipur, police said.

In the first operation, a team of Tengnoupal Police conducted a search operation at Kharou Khullen in Tengnoupal district on September 10 and arrested Ningthoujam Suresh Singh (26), alias Chingsang, a resident of Heirok Part-III in Thoubal district. He is identified as an active cadre of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and is the son of Ningthoujam Anand Singh.

In another operation on the same day, the Combined Directorate of Operations (CDO), Imphal East, arrested Moirangthem Sanathoi Meitei (19), alias Marukhoi, from Khabeisoi in Imphal East.

The arrest was made based on reliable intelligence corroborated by 28 Assam Rifles, 13/2 FIT and 11 WEU. Sanathoi, a resident of Nongada Makha Leikai and son of late M. Tom Meitei, was identified as an active member of the Revolutionary People's Front (RPF)/People's Liberation Army (PLA).

According to police, he joined the outfit in August 2026 and was allegedly involved in recruiting new cadres for the RPF/PLA.

One scooter and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession.-------------
