Bhubaneswar, 11 September (H.S.): The five-day Induction Training Programme for newly appointed Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) of History concluded today at IMAGE, Siripur. The training programme was organised by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, Department of School and Mass Education, Government of Odisha, to equip newly appointed PGTs with the knowledge, skills and professional competencies required for effective teaching and holistic development of higher secondary students.

A total of 120 PGT teachers of History participated in the first phase of the induction programme, held from September 7 to 11, 2026. Smt. Niyati Pattnaik, Director, Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, along with Additional Director Binita Senapati, Joint Director Sasmita Mali and Deputy Director C.H. Bijayalakshmi, attended the valedictory ceremony and interacted with the participating teachers.

The induction programme covered a wide range of areas, including National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, gender-responsive education, ICT-enabled teaching-learning, Odisha Education Rules, SAMS and Shikshajyoti portals, POSH Act, scholarships, administrative responsibilities, examination and assessment planning, and career guidance.

The programme provided the newly appointed teachers an opportunity to familiarise themselves with their professional responsibilities and strengthen their preparedness for classroom and institutional duties. The second phase of the PGT Induction Training Programme will be conducted from September 21 to 25, 2026 for another group of PGTs.
