
Lucknow, 11 Sept (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath honors the great Hindi poet and independence fighter Mahadevi Varma
on her death anniversary, which falls on September 11. She is known as
contemporary Meera and was a prominent figure in the Chhayavaad romanticism
movement in Hindi literature. The Chief Minister usually emphasizes her
contributions to women's empowerment, education, and social transformation, in
addition to her significant literary work. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pays
public respects to Mahadevi Verma on her birth and death anniversaries,
recognizing her as a founding member of the Chhayavaad movement in Hindi
literature.
In a post on X, he remarked, “On the death anniversary of
the immortal voice-artist of Hindi literature, a leading pillar of Chhayavaad,
'Padma Vibhushan' Mahadevi Verma, humble tribute. Her pen enriched Hindi
literature with an unparalleled treasure of emotional depth. Her timeless
creations will continue to resonate with human values across ages.
