New Delhi, 11 September (H.S.):

Global markets are showing signs of weakness. US markets declined during the previous session, although Dow Jones futures are currently trading higher today. European markets also remained under sustained selling pressure during the previous session. Similarly, Asian markets are broadly under pressure today.

Wall Street remained nervous during the previous session amid indications that the US Federal Reserve could raise interest rates. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.60 percent to close at 52,064.10 points. Similarly, the S&P 500 Index ended the previous session 0.58 percent lower at 7,591.70 points. The Nasdaq closed at 26,081.72 points, down 171.62 points, or 0.65 percent. Meanwhile, Dow Jones futures are currently trading at 52,184.72 points, up 120.62 points, or 0.23 percent.

European markets remained under sustained selling pressure during the previous session. The FTSE Index slipped 0.58 percent to close at 10,608.92 points. Similarly, the CAC Index ended the previous session 0.49 percent lower at 8,116.76 points. The DAX Index also fell sharply, declining 215.30 points, or 0.85 percent, to close at 25,361.15 points.

Asian markets are also broadly witnessing selling pressure today. Of the nine Asian markets, eight indices are trading in the red, while one index remains marginally higher in the green. The Straits Times Index is the only Asian index currently trading higher, gaining 0.15 percent to 5,682.53 points.

Meanwhile, GIFT Nifty is trading at 23,261 points, down 199 points, or 0.85 percent. Similarly, the Hang Seng Index has declined 241.47 points, or 0.98 percent, to 24,713 points. The Nikkei Index is witnessing a sharp decline today. The index has fallen 1,643.95 points, or 2.52 percent, to 63,627 points.

The KOSPI Index has also registered a significant decline today. It is currently down 173.93 points, or 2.47 percent, at 6,859.99 points. The Shanghai Composite Index has also slipped 71.67 points, or 1.82 percent, to 3,862.73 points. Meanwhile, the Taiwan Weighted Index is trading at 46,216.23 points, down 724.26 points, or 1.54 percent; the Jakarta Composite Index is down 89.02 points, or 1.35 percent, at 6,500.32 points; and the SET Composite Index is trading at 1,604.02 points, down 0.68 percent.
