New Delhi, 11 September (H.S.): BJP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi described the BRICS Summit being hosted by India as a highly significant platform amid the changing global landscape. In a video message on Friday, Trivedi said that India’s position within BRICS has undergone a major transformation over the past 12 years. He said that India, once considered the weak and insignificant link of the grouping, is today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among its important and strong members.

Trivedi said that wars and conflicts continue to rage in different parts of the world. At such a time, the relevance of a global platform like BRICS becomes even greater. He said India hosting the summit is a matter of pride for the country. The BRICS member countries represent nearly 50 per cent of the world’s population and around 40 per cent of global GDP. Therefore, the discussions held and decisions taken at the forum could have a far-reaching impact at the global level.

According to BJP spokesperson Trivedi, the summit is expected to deliberate on cooperation in several key areas, including economic development and business opportunities, as well as agriculture, genetics, healthcare and the environment. He expressed confidence that, amid the prevailing global circumstances, the summit being hosted by India would play a positive and effective role.

Trivedi said that India’s growing role in the evolving BRICS framework reflects the country’s strengthening position on the global stage. Under Modi’s leadership, India is moving forward with other member countries towards addressing global challenges and exploring new opportunities for cooperation.
