
South 24 Parganas, 11 September (H.S.): : A blast at the residence of a Trinamool Congress leader in Baruipur of South 24 Parganas district on Thursday night triggered panic in the area. At least one person was reportedly injured in the incident and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. No other injuries have been confirmed so far.
According to local residents, the explosion occurred at the house of Trinamool Congress leader Dwijen Mondal. The blast was reportedly so powerful that its impact was felt across the neighbourhood.
A portion of the house was completely damaged in the explosion. Several pillars were shattered, while broken pieces of windows and doors were reportedly thrown to a distance of nearly 100 metres.
The incident has raised questions about what exactly was present inside the house that led to such a powerful explosion.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and have launched an investigation. The debris and surrounding area are being thoroughly examined to ascertain the cause and nature of the blast.
