
Sonitpur (Assam), 10 September (HS): Wild elephant menace continues unabated in the Rangapara area of Sonitpur district, with a lone elephant damaging a house at Sessa Tea Garden during the night.
According to locals, a herd of wild elephants entered the area in search of food late Wednesday night. One elephant separated from the herd and entered the No. 12 Line of the tea garden, where it created panic among residents.
The elephant damaged the house of Budhuwa Sawasi, leaving it completely devastated. Sawasi and his family members managed to escape and save themselves during the incident.
Following the incident, local residents joined efforts to drive the elephant away from the area. The incident has triggered fear among residents, who have urged the Forest Department to take effective measures to address the growing human-elephant conflict and find a permanent solution.---------------
