Bhubaneswar, 10 September (H.S.): The Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and commemorate 25 years of his public service, state BJP president Manmohan Samal said on Thursday.

The campaign will feature a series of public service, outreach and awareness programmes across Odisha, with a major blood donation drive planned on September 17. Samal also appealed to beneficiaries of government schemes and members of the public to light an ‘Ashirwad Deep’ at their homes at 7 pm on the inaugural day.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters, Samal said educational institutions and rural areas would receive special attention during the campaign. Schools and colleges will organise lectures, drawing competitions and photo exhibitions showcasing the ‘Story of Change’, with elected representatives participating in the programmes.

Under the ‘Seva Setu’ initiative, Anganwadi centres will host activities including rangoli exhibitions, while street plays titled ‘Namo Seva Gatha’ will be staged at major roads and intersections to spread awareness about various government initiatives.

The ‘Seva Mora Yogadan’ programme will see BJP leaders, workers and youth associated with the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra undertake door-to-door outreach. The campaign will also showcase 25 major services and initiatives associated with Modi’s 25 years in public life and governance.

A key attraction of the campaign will be the ‘Jansevak Mahakumbh’, which is expected to bring together around 1.25 lakh elected and public representatives from across Odisha. The participants are expected to sing the national anthem together.

Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra said the campaign was not merely a political programme but an initiative to reinforce public service as a commitment and strengthen the BJP’s connect with the people.

Samal also highlighted various initiatives undertaken by Prime Minister Modi during his years in public life while outlining the programmes planned as part of the month-long campaign.
