The 62nd Maharashtra State Film Awards ceremony turned into an emotional occasion for actress Rani Mukerji. At the ceremony held at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented her with the prestigious Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award.

Rani appeared visibly emotional as she accepted the honour. Speaking from the stage in Marathi, she described Maharashtra as not only her birthplace but also the land where she built her professional career.

Rani said Maharashtra is not merely a part of her life but is deeply intertwined with her identity. Expressing her gratitude to the state government, she said recognition from her own people and her homeland carries a special significance for her.

Recalling her relationship with Mumbai, the actress said the city had given her an identity, an audience and a career. Describing Mumbai as her home and a place where she has always felt secure, she said her bond with the city would always remain close to her heart.

Rani further said the award meant far more to her than just a trophy. Whenever she looks at it, she said, she will see her Mumbai and Maharashtra reflected in it.

Looking back on her journey in cinema, the actress said she had never regarded films merely as a profession. For her, cinema has always been a profound emotion and an integral part of her life. The honour from the Maharashtra government, she said, has become a memorable recognition of her long and significant journey in Indian cinema.
