Nagaon (Assam), 10 September (HS): A police team was allegedly attacked by family members of a suspected cattle thief while attempting to arrest him at Geruaati in Assam’s Nagaon district, police said.

The incident took place when a team from Khatowal Police Station went to apprehend accused Rasidul Haque, who allegedly fled from the spot following the attack.

The officer-in-charge of the police station, Bishnu Deuri, along with more than four other police personnel, sustained injuries in the assault.

Police subsequently detained several people allegedly involved in the attack and intensified the search for Rasidul, who remains absconding. Further investigation is underway.-----------
