New Delhi, 10 September (H.S.): l Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Thursday. The two leaders reiterated their commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Germany as the two countries mark 75 years of diplomatic relations. The discussions covered enhancing cooperation in several key areas, including trade and investment, defence, clean energy, advanced technology, and the mobility of talent.

Sharing details of the conversation on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said that India and Germany are completing 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. On this occasion, the two countries agreed to further strengthen their strategic partnership across various important areas, including trade and investment, defence, clean energy, advanced technology, and the mobility of talent.

Modi said that the scope of India’s partnership with Germany is continuously expanding. The two leaders also discussed taking bilateral cooperation forward in line with future requirements and exploring new opportunities in the interests of the people of both countries. Describing Germany as an important pillar of India’s engagement with Europe, the Prime Minister said that Germany is an important and valued partner of India in promoting global peace, stability, and prosperity.

He said that India and Germany will continue to work together to further deepen their forward-looking strategic partnership. The growing cooperation between the two countries will contribute not only to mutual prosperity but also to strengthening peace and stability at the global level.

It may be recalled that India and Germany established diplomatic relations in 1951. In 2026, the two countries are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
