Odisha Health Minister Mahalinga Attends Workshop on Manuscriptology


Bhubaneswar, 10 September (H.S.): Odisha Health Minister Dr Mukesh Mahalinga attended the Pre-WAC Hybrid Workshop on “Manuscriptology for SEARO Countries” organised in Bhubaneswar by the Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Bhubaneswar, and the WHO-CC National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage, Hyderabad.

The workshop focused on the preservation, study and research of palm-leaf manuscripts and ancient medical knowledge. Representatives from several countries, including Nepal and Sri Lanka, participated in the programme.

In a social media post, Mahalinga said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the AYUSH sector has been strengthened and greater emphasis is being placed on India’s traditional systems of medicine.

He said the Odisha government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, is making sustained efforts to further strengthen traditional healthcare systems, particularly Ayurveda, in the state.

Mahalinga highlighted that Odisha has Ayurvedic medical colleges, government AYUSH hospitals and Panchakarma centres, besides extensive healthcare services being provided under the National AYUSH Mission.
