Guwahati, 10 September (HS): The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold its extended state executive meeting at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati on September 11, state chief spokesperson Kishor Upadhyay said on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference at the party's Bajpayee Bhawan headquarters, Upadhyay said the meeting would focus on the BJP's future organisational strategy, strengthening its organisational network and improving coordination among office-bearers and workers at different levels.

The meeting will be attended by state office-bearers, executive members, ministers, MPs, MLAs, state presidents and general secretaries of various morchas, spokespersons, panelists, district presidents and in-charges, among others. Chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of corporations and boards, members of the national council, former MPs and MLAs, and representatives of autonomous councils and development authorities have also been invited.

The extended executive meeting will also set the stage for the party's month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' in Assam from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 25 years in parliamentary politics and public service.

Modi first became the Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, and subsequently took oath as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014. He is currently serving his third consecutive term as Prime Minister.

Upadhyay said 13 programmes have been planned nationwide as part of the month-long campaign, with the Assam BJP making extensive preparations for their implementation in the state.

The first programme, titled 'Ashirbadar Banti', will be held on September 17, Modi's birthday. More than 31,000 BJP booth workers in Assam will light lamps at their homes and convey blessings and greetings to the Prime Minister, he said.

The 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' seeks to take Modi's message of service, dedication and public welfare to a wider section of people while further strengthening the resolve to build a 'Viksit Bharat', Upadhyay said.------------
