Sonitpur (Assam), 01 September (HS): Wild elephants once again created panic in Rangapara area of Assam’s Sonitpur district after a herd of two elephants entered Molangaon near the Colony Tea Garden and damaged two residential houses late Monday night.

According to reports, the elephants ventured out of the forest in search of food and entered the village, causing significant damage. They broke into the houses of Atua Munda and Durgeshwar Tanti and damaged household belongings and furniture.

Members of both families managed to escape safely during the incident. Later, local residents jointly drove the elephants away from the area.

Wild elephant incursions have reportedly become a frequent occurrence in several parts of Rangapara, creating fear among residents. The recurring incidents have also raised concerns over the need for effective measures to prevent human-elephant conflict in the area.------------
