Kokrajhar (Assam), 01 September (HS): The prompt intervention of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Kokrajhar helped ensure timely medical treatment for a passenger who sustained serious injuries after reportedly falling from the general coach of Train No. 12510 Down near LC Gate No. 141 on the Kokrajhar–Salakati railway section.

The injured passenger was identified as Ananta Bora, son of Bhagadatta Bora, a resident of Kamalpur, Simluguri, under Dalpur Police Station in Lakhimpur district. After sustaining a head injury, Bora somehow reached the Salakati end of Platform No. 1 at Kokrajhar Railway Station.

During questioning by the RPF Special Branch, the passenger informed officials that his blue backpack had been left inside the train. The information was immediately conveyed to the duty staff and SIPF at Kokrajhar.

Acting swiftly, RK Singh, SIPF/RPF/Kokrajhar, reached the location and arranged a private vehicle to transport the injured passenger to RNB Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar, where he received medical treatment.

Meanwhile, with the assistance of RPF personnel at New Jalpaiguri (NJP), the passenger’s blue backpack was also recovered from the train and safely handed back to him.

The timely action by the RPF ensured that the injured passenger received medical attention without delay and was also reunited with his belongings. The passenger is currently reported to be in stable condition. The RPF’s prompt response and humanitarian intervention have been widely appreciated.------------
