New Delhi, 01 September (H.S.): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and several other leaders on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to Jain monk and Rashtrasant Tarun Sagar on his death anniversary, recalling his spiritual teachings, social message and contribution to public life.

Birla, in a post on X, paid his respects to Tarun Sagar Maharaj and said the Jain monk, through his powerful, fearless and inspiring discourses, demonstrated that religion is a path of righteous conduct, self-discipline and service to humanity.

He said Tarun Sagar conveyed the teachings of Lord Mahavira on non-violence, truth, non-possession, compassion and self-purification to a wide section of society in simple and impactful language.

Birla further said that Tarun Sagar’s words carried not only spiritual awareness but also a strong message of social consciousness. He inspired people to rise above outward appearances and focus on purifying their thoughts, conduct and actions.

“His thoughts continue to inspire us to lead disciplined lives, uphold moral values, promote harmony and follow the path of humanity,” Birla said.

Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Tarun Sagar conveyed a profound and meaningful message on how to live life through his deeply moving discourses. He said the monk’s ascetic life, teachings and welfare-oriented thoughts would continue to serve humanity for generations and inspire people to follow the path of righteousness.

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said Tarun Sagar showed society the way towards truth, righteousness and moral values through his powerful thoughts and teachings. His enduring ideas, Singh said, would continue to inspire humanity towards public welfare and compassion.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal described Tarun Sagar as an embodiment of truth, non-violence and compassion, and as a revered Jain monk, saint and philosopher. He said the monk’s powerful discourses and philosophy of life had inspired people to follow the path of truth and righteous conduct.

Manohar Lal added that Tarun Sagar’s teachings would continue to illuminate and enrich people’s lives for years to come.
