Prayagraj, 01 Sept (HS): Awareness campaign at SRN Hospital

on the eighth day of Eye Donation Fortnight; so far 410 people have pledged to

donate their eyes. On Tuesday, the eighth day of the Eye Donation Fortnight,

the team from Manohar Das Eye Hospital conducted an eye donation awareness

campaign at Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital. During the campaign, patients,

attendants, and others were informed about the importance of eye donation. A

large number of people participated in the campaign, and 155 pledged to donate

their eyes.

The campaign was led by Prof. Dr. Jagriti Rana. She, along with Dr. Nikhil, Dr.

Shraddha, and a team of optometrists, provided information about eye donation,

dispelled social misconceptions, and encouraged people to donate.

The team explained that eye donation after death can bring light into the lives

of a blind person. People were urged to develop a positive attitude toward eye

donation and to encourage their families and acquaintances to do the same. The

Director of Manohar Das Eye Hospital, Prof. Dr. Santosh Kumar and Dr. Vinod

Kumar Singh played an important role in making the campaign successful.

Eye Bank in-charge Dr. Aarti Singh said that awareness campaigns have been

organized so far under the Eye Donation Fortnight at Motilal Nehru District

Hospital, Tej Bahadur Sapru Hospital, and Community Health Centers in Jasra and

Koraon. Through various campaigns, a total of 410 people have pledged to donate

their eyes.
