New Delhi, 07 August (H.S.):
Purani Dilli 6 registered a convincing 27-run victory over the New Delhi Tigers in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 clash played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday night. Explosive opener Aryan Gaur's scintillating knock, backed by a disciplined bowling performance, proved instrumental in the team's triumph.
Batting first, Purani Dilli 6 posted 177/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Aryan Gaur starred with a magnificent 91 off just 42 deliveries, smashing 11 boundaries and four sixes. He adopted an aggressive approach from the outset, providing his side with a commanding start.
However, after Gaur was dismissed by Hrithik Shokeen in the 13th over, Purani Dilli 6 suffered a batting collapse, losing wickets at regular intervals and slipping to 155/7. Digvesh Singh Rathi then played a valuable unbeaten cameo of 19 runs from nine balls to guide the team to a competitive total of 177.
For the New Delhi Tigers, Hrithik Shokeen was the standout bowler, claiming four wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs. Laxman also impressed, finishing with figures of 4/29 from his four-over spell.
Chasing a target of 178, the New Delhi Tigers never managed to build momentum. Regular wickets kept them under constant pressure, and they had already lost five wickets by the time they reached 119.
Captain Himmat Singh fought hard with a 36-run knock off 25 balls but received little support from the other end. The New Delhi Tigers eventually finished on 150/8 in their 20 overs, falling short by 27 runs.
For Purani Dilli 6, Rajneesh Dadar was the most successful bowler, picking up three wickets for 26 runs in four overs. Pankaj Jaswal also made a significant contribution, returning economical figures of 1/22 in four overs, including a maiden, to help seal an impressive victory for his side.
