Guwahati, 07 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently promoted the creations of Assam's weavers, including the traditional Gamocha and Aronai, giving the state's handloom products greater recognition at both the national and international levels.

In a social media post on the occasion of National Handloom Day, the Chief Minister noted that Assam's iconic Gamocha found a special mention in the Prime Minister's message, describing it as a matter of pride for the state.

Dr. Sarma urged people to support the handloom sector by purchasing handwoven Gamochas and indigenous textiles. He said such efforts would help preserve Assam's rich weaving tradition while strengthening the local economy.-----------
