
New Delhi, 07 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended greetings on National Handloom Day and paid tribute to India's weavers, highlighting their invaluable contribution to preserving the country's rich handloom heritage.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, Today, on National Handloom Day, we celebrate India's rich and vibrant handloom heritage. We also salute the skill, creativity and dedication of our weavers and artisans. For generations, they have preserved and enriched our traditions.
Reaffirming the government's commitment to the sector, Prime Minister Modi said, Our Government will continue to support the handloom sector, which is a vital pillar of rural empowerment, women-led development and the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
He also encouraged citizens to share their favourite handloom products and GRWM videos using the hashtag #NationalHandloomDay to boost the morale of artisans and others associated with the sector.
It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister referred to the social media acronym GRWM in his post. The abbreviation stands for Get Ready With Me, a popular video format on social media platforms in which creators or vloggers interact with viewers while preparing for a particular day, event or occasion.
