ICDS Supervisor Accuses Dubrajpur BDO of Sexual Harassment, Files Police Complaint

Kolkata, 07 August (H.S.) : An ICDS supervisor in West Bengal's Birbhum district has lodged a police complaint accusing the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Dubrajpur of sexual harassment, alleging repeated inappropriate behaviour, unwelcome advances and mental harassment.

The complainant alleged that the BDO had been repeatedly contacting her through phone calls and messages over the past several days and had allegedly proposed a sexual relationship. She further claimed that he behaved inappropriately with her on multiple occasions and began harassing her mentally after she rejected his advances.

A written complaint was lodged at Dubrajpur Police Station on Thursday.

The complainant also alleged that the police initially delayed accepting her complaint, claiming she was made to remain at the police station from around 3 p.m. until nearly midnight before her complaint was finally registered.

In addition to approaching the police, the ICDS supervisor said she had sent written complaints via email to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, the Superintendent of Police, Birbhum, and other senior administrative authorities, seeking appropriate action.

The allegations have triggered concern within the local administration. However, the accused BDO has not issued any public response to the allegations.

Police officials have also declined to comment on the case in detail, stating that the matter is under investigation. The allegations made in the complaint are yet to be independently verified.
