
New Delhi, 07 August (H.S.): Global markets were showing signs of weakness on Friday, with US equities closing lower in the previous session and Dow Jones futures also trading in negative territory. European markets ended mixed in the previous session, while Asian markets were witnessing a similarly mixed trend in early trade.
US markets remained under sustained selling pressure during the previous session, pushing Wall Street's major indices into negative territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 460 points, or over 0.90 per cent. The S&P 500 declined 0.18 per cent to close at 7,709.96 points, while the Nasdaq slipped 0.06 per cent to end the session at 26,348.35 points.
Meanwhile, Dow Jones futures were trading lower in the morning session, down 94.48 points, or 0.18 per cent, at 53,790.62 points.
European markets ended the previous session on a mixed note. The FTSE index declined 0.19 per cent to close at 10,867.89 points. In contrast, France's CAC index advanced 0.35 per cent to finish at 8,699.71 points. Germany's DAX also edged up 0.05 per cent to close at 26,140.13 points.
Asian markets were also trading mixed on Friday. Of the nine major Asian indices, five were trading in negative territory, while four were in the green.
Singapore's Straits Times Index gained 0.98 per cent to trade at 5,694.34 points. The Jakarta Composite Index advanced 0.70 per cent to 6,388.48 points. The Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.59 per cent to 3,923.41 points, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.28 per cent to 25,603 points.
On the other hand, GIFT Nifty was down 101 points, or 0.41 per cent, at 24,647 points. Taiwan's Weighted Index declined 183.75 points, or 0.41 per cent, to 44,212.95 points.
South Korea's KOSPI slipped 0.52 per cent to 6,263.86 points, while Thailand's SET Composite Index fell 0.24 per cent to 1,610.72 points. Japan's Nikkei index declined 96.26 points, or 0.15 per cent, to trade at 65,587 points.
