New Delhi, 06 August (H.S.): The Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture have entered into a strategic partnership with Netflix to promote India's rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and tourism destinations on the global stage.

To mark a decade of Netflix in India, a special event was held on Wednesday at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in New Delhi. During the event, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat held a discussion with Netflix Co-Chief Executive Officer Ted Sarandos on how storytelling can inspire travel and strengthen India's global soft power.

Emphasising the transformative role of cinema, Shekhawat said, Cinema is far more than entertainment; it is a bridge that connects culture, heritage, and tourism. Every Indian story has the potential to inspire someone, somewhere in the world, to visit India.

He said that integrating the As Seen on Netflix feature into the Incredible India digital platform represents a shared effort to showcase the country's cultural diversity and enhance India's soft power.

Under this landmark collaboration, the Ministry of Tourism has incorporated the As Seen on Netflix feature into its digital platform. Through this initiative, travellers from around the world will be able to explore information about India's scenic destinations, festivals, wildlife, and historical landmarks that have been featured in popular Netflix films and series. The initiative aims to transform viewers' on-screen experiences into real-life travel journeys.

Tourism Secretary V. Bhuvnesh Kumar said that strategic collaborations between the government and the creative industry are transforming the way destinations are discovered and experienced. He added that authentic storytelling not only promotes sustainable tourism but also creates economic opportunities for local communities.

On the occasion, the Ministry of Tourism and Netflix jointly screened two special films. The first focused on India's extraordinary biodiversity and wildlife tourism experiences, while the second celebrated the country's rich and vibrant cultural heritage.
