New Delhi, 06 August (H.S.): Captain Sarthak Ranjan starred with a blistering 95-run knock, while Yash Bhatia remained unbeaten with a half-century as North Delhi Strikers registered a commanding six-wicket victory over East Delhi Riders in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday night. Chasing a target of 172, North Delhi reached the total with four overs to spare.
Earlier, East Delhi Riders posted 171 for six in their allotted 20 overs. Sujal Singh anchored the innings with an unbeaten 82 off 50 balls, an innings studded with six fours and four sixes.
The Riders got off to a shaky start, losing wickets at regular intervals. However, Sujal held one end firmly, blending composure with aggression before accelerating in the closing overs to guide his side to a competitive total.
For North Delhi Strikers, Vikas Dixit was the most economical bowler, claiming one wicket for just 19 runs in his four-over spell. The rest of the bowling attack also maintained disciplined lines and lengths to keep the opposition batters under pressure.
North Delhi Strikers also endured a poor start to their chase, slipping to 39 for two in the early overs. The match turned decisively when captain Sarthak Ranjan and Yash Bhatia stitched together a magnificent 113-run partnership for the third wicket.
Ranjan produced a sensational innings of 95 from just 50 deliveries, smashing seven boundaries and eight sixes. He effectively sealed the contest in the 14th over by hammering 29 runs off Simarjeet Singh in a single over. Although he fell just five runs short of a well-deserved century, he had already put his team on the brink of victory.
Following Ranjan's dismissal, Bharat Sindhwani departed soon after, but Yash Bhatia held his nerve. The unbeaten half-century from Bhatia ensured there were no further setbacks as North Delhi Strikers comfortably reached the target to complete a memorable six-wicket win.
