Asan (South Korea), 06 August (H.S.): India’s 17-year-old emerging badminton star Tanvi Sharma continued her impressive run by advancing to the women’s singles quarterfinals of the Korea Masters 2026.

In the second-round match played on Thursday, Tanvi defeated fellow Indian shuttler Shriyanshi Valishetty 21-16, 17-21, 21-13. She will now face another Indian player, Rakshita Sree Ramraj, in the quarterfinals. Rakshita secured her place in the last eight after defeating Japan’s Manami Suizu 22-20, 21-10.

Tanvi, who created history last week by winning the Taipei Open Super-300 title, once again displayed her fighting spirit and determination. With the BWF World Badminton Championships scheduled to be held in India later this month, the 17-year-old has strengthened her credentials by continuing her winning momentum.

In the all-Indian contest, Tanvi did not have the best start in the opening game and fell behind during the early exchanges. However, she made a strong comeback with her quick movement and attacking strokes, winning crucial points consistently to take the first game 21-16.

Shriyanshi responded strongly in the second game, taking an 11-6 lead at the interval and maintaining an aggressive approach. Although Tanvi attempted to reduce the deficit, Shriyanshi remained composed and forced the match into a deciding game by winning the second game 21-17.

In the final game, Tanvi dominated from the beginning. She built an early lead and did not allow Shriyanshi any opportunity to stage a comeback. The world No. 30 maintained excellent control throughout the game and sealed the match with a 21-13 victory to book her place in the quarterfinals.
