New Delhi, 06 August (H.S.): Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday extended his support to students of Allahabad University protesting against fee hikes and seat reductions, alleging that the government is attempting to suppress the voices of the youth.

He accused the administration of filing cases against students instead of listening to their demands and addressing their concerns.

In a post on social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi said that students of Allahabad University are fighting for their future against fee increases and reduction in seats, but instead of hearing them out, the administration is registering FIRs against them.

Alleging that the Narendra Modi-led government's policy is to silence the voices of young people, Rahul Gandhi wrote, Ask questions and you face batons, protest and you face cases, raise your voice and you face pellet guns.

The Congress leader said that ever since he decided to visit Prayagraj to listen to the concerns of the students, the administration has been trying in every possible way to stop his programme.

He alleged that the government is afraid of the voices of students as well.

Rahul Gandhi said, I stand with the students. No matter how much the government tries, it cannot stop me from raising the voice of students.
