New Delhi, 06 August (H.S.):

The Congress on Thursday appointed Rajya Sabha member Neeraj Dangi as the party's Whip in the Rajya Sabha.

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi made the appointment to fill the vacancy created following the retirement of Rajya Sabha MP Rajni Ashokrao Patil from the post.

According to a statement issued by the Congress Parliamentary Party on Thursday, Neeraj Dangi will serve as the party's Whip in the Rajya Sabha with immediate effect.

The appointment order was issued by Congress Parliamentary Party's Chief Whip in the Rajya Sabha, Jairam Ramesh.
