7.24 Million Tonnes Loaded During April–July 2026-27

Prayagraj, August 05 (HS): North Central Railway has

recorded an outstanding performance in freight loading during the first four

months (April to July 2026) of the current financial year, 2026-27. During this

period, the zone loaded a total of 7.24 million tonnes (MT) of freight, marking

a 7.6% increase compared to the 6.73 million tonnes recorded during the same

period last year.

An analysis of commodity-wise performance that North Central

Railway achieved notable success in the transportation of food grains, cement,

and containers. A record 70.3% increase was registered in food grain loading

during this period. Meanwhile, container transport—which boosts logistics and

industrial ease—saw a 13.0% rise, and cement loading grew by 11.6%, reaching a

volume of 1.35 million tonnes. Additionally, the loading of 'other commodities'

rose by 9.9 reveals % to reach 1.88 million tonnes, while 2.25 million tonnes

of petroleum and oil products were transported.

Looking at divisional performance, North Central Railway's

Prayagraj Division recorded an impressive 30.1% growth in freight loading. The

division's total loading increased from 2.29 million tonnes last year to 2.98

million tonnes, driven primarily by substantial surges of 257% in food grain

loading and 42.9% in cement loading. In this context, the Jhansi Division

recorded a positive growth of 3.1%, loading a total of 3.28 million tonnes of

freight; this included a 26.7% increase in food grains and a 14.3% rise in

other commodities. Meanwhile, the Agra Division loaded approximately 1 million

tonnes. Notably, the Agra Division achieved an impressive 33.3% growth in the container

category.

It is noteworthy that against the annual freight loading

target of 22.98 million tonnes set for the current financial year (2026-27),

North Central Railway has successfully achieved 31.5% of the target within the

first four months alone. North Central Railway remains continuously committed

to enhancing the efficiency of freight transport operations, ensuring wagon

availability, and strengthening the logistics ecosystem.
