Hooghly, 05 August (H.S.): A sensation has spread in Tarakeswar, Hooghly, following allegations of an attack on the family of local YouTuber Shrimanta Bag. The family has alleged that a person, claiming to be a police officer, assaulted them and misbehaved with a woman member of the family.

The victim, YouTuber Shrimanta Bag, shared details of the incident on Wednesday. According to the written complaint, the incident took place on August 3, 2026, at around 4 PM.

Complainant Asima Bag stated that she was returning home with her family after offering water at the Tarakeswar temple when a person allegedly stopped them on the way. The person allegedly introduced himself as a police officer and became aggressive during the conversation.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly made derogatory remarks against Asima Bag, used abusive language, pushed her, assaulted her physically, and attempted to outrage her modesty by pulling her saree.

The family further alleged that when other members tried to intervene, they were also assaulted. YouTuber Shrimanta Bag allegedly sustained injuries while trying to protect his mother.

Following the incident, local residents gathered at the spot. The accused allegedly fled from the area after realizing that the situation was escalating. The injured family members were taken to a nearby hospital with the help of locals and were later discharged after receiving primary treatment.

The family has identified the accused as Chandan Ghosh (around 40 years old), a resident of Badyipur, Tarakeswar, Hooghly. They have demanded his immediate arrest, strict legal action, and security for the family.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been received from the police or administration regarding the allegations.
