Lucknow, August 05 (HS): The government has taken decisive

steps to provide free travel on roadways buses to women over the age of 60 in

the state. The first supplementary budget for the financial year 2026-27

includes a provision of Rs. 100 crore to compensate the State Road Transport

Corporation for this arrangement. The BJP had promised this in its public

welfare manifesto. Additionally, the Destitute Women Pension Scheme, the Chief

Minister's Child Service Scheme, and various schemes related to women and child

protection have been strengthened, with an additional Rs. 1094.40 crore

provided to the Women's Welfare Department. This provision further strengthens

the government's commitment to women's safety, dignity, social protection, and

economic empowerment.

The state government has also made an additional provision

of Rs. 1,094.40 crore in the supplementary budget for the Women's Welfare

Department. Rs. 930 crore has been allocated for the Destitute Women's Pension

Scheme, which aims to provide social security to women facing financial

hardship after the death of their husbands. This will ensure regular financial

support for a large number of eligible women in the state.

Chief Minister's Child Service Scheme gets Rs 110 crore

provision: To ensure the education, maintenance, and overall development of

orphans and children living in special circumstances, a provision of Rs. 110

crore has been made for the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's Child Service

Scheme. Additionally, Rs. 54.30 crore has been allocated for the Uttar Pradesh

Rani Lakshmibai Women and Child Honor Fund, which will further strengthen the

system of providing timely assistance and protection to victimized women and

children.

Senior citizen women will get respectable and free travel

facility: The supplementary budget includes a provision for compensation for

free travel for women over 60 on State Road Transport Corporation buses. This

decision will provide financial relief to millions of senior women in the state

when traveling for religious, social, family, and health-related needs. This

initiative will strengthen their dignity, convenience, and self-reliance.

A provision of Rs. 10 lakh has also been made in the supplementary

budget for the Chief Minister's Shakti Samriddhi Yojana, aimed at economically

empowering women. The Yogi government is consistently implementing its public

welfare commitments by prioritizing women's safety, respect, self-reliance, and

social security. Through these provisions related to women's welfare, the

government has made it clear that empowering the most vulnerable sections of

society is the foundation of good governance and inclusive development.
