Lucknow, August 05 (HS): The third day of the monsoon session of the Uttar
Pradesh Legislative Assembly was also tumultuous. As the House met at 11 a.m.
on Wednesday, Speaker Satish Mahana described the uproar created by opposition
members on Tuesday as concerning. As the House proceeded, the opposition again
began creating a ruckus. Amid the continued uproar, the Assembly was adjourned
indefinitely.
In his address, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana said that what happened in
the House yesterday (Tuesday), despite my refusal, is highly condemnable. I
would also like to say that despite our refusal, some members gave the
restricted proceedings of this House to the media and it was broadcast. This is
objectionable. The media should also take note of this. After this, the House
proceedings continued.
During the question hour, Energy Minister A.K. Sharma
began answering a question. Opposition party members again started a ruckus. At
this, the presiding officer adjourned the House for half an hour. Meanwhile,
the adjournment of the House was extended till 1 pm.
The House resumed proceedings once again. The supplementary budget presented
by the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday was passed by voice vote in the
Assembly. The CAG report, along with the report on the Sambhal riots, was
tabled in the Assembly. All remaining legislative business was completed during
this time, and the Assembly was adjourned sine die on the third day.
