New Delhi, 05 August (H.S.): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil in New Delhi on Wednesday and sought the Centre's intervention to resolve the long-pending dispute between Telangana and Maharashtra over the proposed height of the Tummidihatti Barrage. He urged the Union government to hold discussions with the Maharashtra government and secure approval for the barrage at a height of 150 metres.

According to sources, Telangana Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and several Members of Parliament from the state were also present during the meeting.

During the discussion, the Chief Minister informed the Union Minister that the Telangana government intends to construct the Tummidihatti Barrage with a Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of 150 metres, while the Maharashtra government has reportedly agreed only to a height of 148 metres. He said the difference in opinion has stalled the progress of the project.

Revanth Reddy requested the Jal Shakti Minister to facilitate coordination between the two states and help resolve the dispute at the earliest so that construction can move forward without further delay. He emphasized that the project is crucial for meeting Telangana's irrigation requirements and that the prolonged delay is adversely affecting the state's development initiatives.
