Barcelona, 05 August (H.S.): Spanish giants Barcelona have signed Brazil international forward Kerolin Nicoli from Manchester City on a four-year contract. Kerolin, who made her senior debut for Brazil in 2018, was also a member of the Brazilian squad that won the 2022 Copa América Femenina.

According to British media reports, the move is the most expensive transfer in the history of the Women's Super League (WSL). Reports said Barcelona paid a transfer fee of approximately €1.5 million (around US$1.73 million) for the 26-year-old forward. The previous record outgoing transfer from the WSL was Canada's Olivia Smith, who moved from Liverpool to Arsenal last year for £1 million.

Kerolin joined Manchester City from the North Carolina Courage in January 2025. She played a pivotal role last season, helping the club win the Women's Super League title and the Women's FA Cup.

In an official statement, Barcelona said, Kerolin has developed into a complete player over the course of her career. She is now ready to wear the Barcelona jersey and give her very best for one of the most demanding teams in world football.

The club added, The signing of Kerolin Nicoli is another strong statement of the club's ambition. Our objective is to bring together the world's best players, remain at the highest level, and continue setting new standards of excellence.

Barcelona have won Spain's Liga F title for seven consecutive seasons and have also lifted the UEFA Women's Champions League trophy four times since 2020. The club will begin its new Liga F campaign against CD Tenerife on August 30.
