West Delhi Lions produced an impressive all-round performance to defeat South Delhi Superstarz by five wickets in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 on Tuesday night. After bowling out South Delhi for 160 in 19.5 overs, the Lions successfully chased down the target with five wickets in hand.
Opting to bat first, South Delhi Superstarz lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to build any significant partnerships. The West Delhi bowlers maintained disciplined line and length throughout the innings, giving the batters little opportunity to score freely.
In the closing stages of the innings, Vijan Panchal played a quick cameo of 24 runs off just 12 balls, helping his side post a total of 160.
For West Delhi Lions, Mayank Gusain starred with the ball, claiming three wickets for just 13 runs in his four overs. Kulwant Khejroliya picked up two wickets, while Nitish Rana also chipped in with one dismissal.
Chasing a target of 161, West Delhi Lions got off to a poor start, losing two wickets for just 26 runs during the powerplay. Nitish Rana and Krish Yadav then steadied the innings with a crucial 58-run partnership for the third wicket.
Rana contributed a composed 32 runs from 25 deliveries. Although the middle order lost a few wickets, West Delhi maintained control of the chase.
Ayush Doseja then played a match-winning knock under pressure, scoring 44 runs off 27 balls. He received valuable support from Mayank Gusain, who remained unbeaten on 19 from just 10 deliveries to complete an outstanding all-round performance and guide West Delhi Lions to a comfortable five-wicket victory.
