Bhubaneswar, 05 August (H.S.): The Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Odisha, held a high-level preparatory meeting today to review arrangements for the upcoming 80th State-Level Independence Day celebrations.

The meeting, chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Shri Hemant Sharma, emphasized meticulous planning and coordination to ensure the smooth and dignified conduct of the national event. Highlighting the emotional and patriotic significance of Independence Day, Shri Sharma directed officials to give careful attention to every aspect of the programme .

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi will attend theprogramme as the Chief Guest and will hoist the national flag at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar at 9:00 AM on August 15, 2026.

Detailed discussions were held on key components, including parade arrangements, venue management, and ceremonial protocols. The department will oversee essential arrangements such as live telecast of the celebrations on television and social media platforms, dissemination of information to media, decoration of the venue, display of photographs of eminent national leaders, and seating arrangements for invited guests. The traditional rendering of “Ramdhun” in the early morning using public address systems will also be organized.

The route from Raj Bhavan to the celebration venue will be aesthetically decorated. During the programme , the Chief Minister will also felicitate the best contingents and tableaux from the State-Level Republic Day Parade 2026.

To enhance the festive spirit, prominent government buildings, public sector units, and important establishments across the state will be illuminated. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation will ensure sanitation and drinking water facilities at the venue, while the Commissionerate Police will manage security and traffic arrangements.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including Director Shri Anuj Kumar Das Pattnaik, Technical Director Shri Gurbir Singh, Additional Secretary Shri Ashok Kumar Beuria, Additional Director Smt. Smita Kar, and Joint Director (Field) Smt. Sucheta Priyadarshini, along with other departmental officers.
