New Delhi, 05 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that spiritual growth instills within individuals the values of service, dedication and nation-building, adding that these ideals are inspiring India's youth to lead the country forward across every sphere.

Sharing a Subhashitam on X, the Prime Minister wrote, Spiritual growth nurtures within a person the spirit of service, dedication and nation-building. Inspired by these values, our youth are today taking the nation forward in every field.

The Sanskrit verse shared by the Prime Minister reads:

Ātmodayaḥ parajñānirdvayaṁ nītir itīyatī,

Tadūrīkṛtya kṛtibhir vācaspatyaṁ pratāyate.

The verse conveys that the true essence of ethical conduct rests on two complementary objectives: one's own self-improvement and the welfare of others. Those who disregard these twin ideals and merely indulge in eloquent words reduce their scholarship to empty rhetoric.

The verse used as the day's Subhashitam has been taken from the Sanskrit epic Shishupalavadha, composed by the renowned classical poet Mahakavi Magha.
