Bhubaneswar, 05 August (H.S.) : Odisha is fast emerging as the nation’s “Energy Growth Engine,” accelerating its clean energy transition while expanding its industrial base, with a target to add nearly 11 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

Addressing a major conference of the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA), Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo highlighted that Odisha is already a power-surplus state and is now focused on building a resilient, future-ready energy ecosystem. Minister of State for Industries Sampad Chandra Swain also participated in the high-level event, reflecting the state’s strong industrial push.

Aligned with the Prime Minister’s “Purvodaya” vision for Eastern India, the state leadership emphasized extending industrial incentives to the energy sector. The goal is to develop a robust power infrastructure supported by smart grid technologies, digital substations, and AI-driven asset management systems.

To drive this transformation, Odisha is leveraging its massive ₹10 lakh crore investment pipeline, which is expected to generate sustained demand for advanced electrical equipment, transformers, and smart transmission components. With its strategic location in Eastern India and strong port connectivity, the state is positioning itself as a key manufacturing and export hub for electrical equipment, catering to Eastern and North-Eastern regions as well as global markets.

Inviting global investors and technology providers, Singh Deo called on industry leaders to “Manufacture in Odisha, Innovate in Odisha, and Grow with Odisha,” assuring a stable policy environment, transparent governance, and proactive support from both the Energy and Industry Departments. The state aims to build a modern, cyber-secure energy ecosystem to support sustainable industrial growth in line with the vision of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat 2047.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain underscored Odisha’s investor-friendly policies, plug-and-play industrial infrastructure, and robust ecosystem, positioning the state as a preferred destination for green manufacturing and high-tech industries.

The conference was attended by key dignitaries including Industries Department Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Energy Department Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev, Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited CMD Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, Central Electricity Authority Chairperson Ghanshyam Prasad, IEEMA President Vikram Gandotra, Director General Charu Mathur, Eastern Region Chairman Utkarsh Bansal, and Vice Chairman Parag Saraf, along with senior state officials.
