Sivasagar (Assam), 05 August (HS): Union Health Minister and former BJP National President J.P. Nadda on Wednesday visited the flood-ravaged Santak and Nepali Khuti areas of Assam's Sivasagar district and interacted with affected residents, assuring them of all possible assistance from the government.

During the visit, Nadda met flood-affected families and listened to their concerns regarding the extensive damage caused to homes, agricultural land, livestock and public infrastructure. He also reviewed the ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures in the affected villages.

The Union Minister enquired about the availability of essential relief materials and the assistance being provided to displaced families. He assured the residents that their concerns had been noted and that both the Central and State governments remained fully committed to supporting those affected by the disaster.

Santak and Nepali Khuti are among the worst flood-hit areas in Sivasagar district, where the recent floods caused widespread destruction, affecting thousands of people and severely damaging houses, roads, embankments and vast stretches of farmland.

Nadda's visit comes as the Assam government and district administration continue damage assessment, relief distribution and rehabilitation efforts in the flood-affected regions. The visit forms part of the Centre's review of the flood situation in Upper Assam, particularly in Sivasagar and neighbouring districts that witnessed extensive devastation.

After visiting Sivasagar, Nadda left for Mon district in neighbouring Nagaland to assess flood damage there. He is scheduled to return to Assam later in the day to visit flood-affected areas in Charaideo district. On Thursday, he will travel to Arunachal Pradesh to review the destruction caused by recent cloudburst incidents.

Nadda, who arrived in Dibrugarh on Tuesday on a three-day tour of Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, was accompanied during the visit by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Ministers Ashok Singhal, Keshab Mahanta, Pijush Hazarika and Sushanta Borgohain, along with local legislators and senior administrative officials.--------
