
Guwahati, 05 August (HS): Kamrup (Metro) district administration on Wednesday observed Lok Kalyan Diwas to mark the 76th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi.
A tribute ceremony was held at Bordoloi's memorial at the Navagraha Crematorium, where New Guwahati MLA Diplu Ranjan Sharma attended as the chief guest and offered floral tributes to the statue of the late leader.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma described Bordoloi as a true son of Mother India who fought against British rule and played a crucial role in safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. He said Bordoloi's visionary leadership ensured the security of Assam and inspired generations, urging the youth to follow his ideals and dedicate themselves to nation-building.
An all-faith prayer meeting was also organised as part of the programme, with members of Kasturba Seva Ashram participating in the prayers.
Guwahati Municipal Corporation Mayor Mrigen Sarania, Additional District Commissioner Raja Vaishya, Bordoloi's son Balin Bordoloi and other family members, GMC councillors and officials of the district administration were also present at the event.--------
