Tamulpur (Assam), 05 August (HS): Lok Kalyan Diwas was observed at the conference hall of the Tamulpur Deputy Commissioner's office on Wednesday to mark the death anniversary of Assam's first Chief Minister and eminent freedom fighter, Gopinath Bordoloi.

Tamulpur Deputy Commissioner Simi Karan, IAS, attended the programme as the chief guest and paid floral tribute to Bordoloi's portrait, remembering his immense contribution to India's freedom struggle and the development of Assam.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that Gopinath Bordoloi is the first name that comes to mind when speaking of Assam's freedom fighters. She highlighted his pivotal role in the independence movement, political foresight, commitment to social welfare, and significant contributions to education.

She also spoke about Bordoloi's patriotism, integrity, dedication to public welfare, and unwavering commitment to protecting Assam's interests. Calling his contributions to the state's social, political, and educational progress invaluable, she urged everyone to draw inspiration from his ideals and work for the welfare of society.

Senior Superintendent of Police Suman Chakraborty, officials and staff of the Deputy Commissioner's office, and heads of various government departments attended the programme, according to a press release issued by District Information and Public Relations Officer Bijoy Bezbaruah.-----------
